Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) in Campbelltown

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government dental program with the goal to make it affordable and easier for families with children to keep their children’s teeth healthy and well maintained. At Campbelltown Dental Care, our dentist Campbelltown bulk bill the CDBS, so for services covered by the schedule there is nothing for you to pay on the day and no claim for you to submit.

Eligibility

Eligible children can access up to $1,158 in dental services over two consecutive calendar years. The two-year period starts when your child receives their first eligible service, not on the day they are assessed as eligible.

The cap is indexed each January. The $1,158 amount applies to benefit periods beginning in 2026. If your child’s two-year period started in 2025, their cap remains $1,132 until that period ends.

Children and teenagers are eligible for the CDBS if they are:

  • Aged 0-17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year
  • Are eligible for Medicare; and
  • Are part of a family that receives Family Tax Benefit A or the child receives an Australian Government payment

You do not need to apply or register. Services Australia assesses eligibility at the start of each calendar year and sends a letter if your child qualifies. Eligibility is reassessed annually, so a child who qualified last year may not this year, and the reverse is also true.

To get the free kids dentistry benefit, the family or child must receive at least one of these payments at least once during the calendar year.

  • Double Orphan Pension

Received by the child or teenager:

  • Family Tax Benefit Part A
  • ABSTUDY
  • Carer Payment
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Parenting Payment
  • Special Benefit
  • Youth Allowance
  • Veterans’ Children Education Scheme (if aged 16 to 17)
  • Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme (if aged 16 to 17)

Received by a teenager’s partner:

  • Family Tax Benefit Part A
  • Parenting Payment

What the CDBS covers

Most items carry their own claiming restrictions, such as limits on how often a service can be claimed. We check your child’s balance and confirm what is covered before treatment begins.

What the CDBS does not cover
